Photos from Vancouver

A trip to Vancouver in Fall of 2007

These photos were taken in Vancouver, British Columbia, in October of 2007.

Shawn Cole, pointing out a restaurant on the main floor of the building where there was a gang-related shooting a week before.

Punk rock band Cambridge.

The crowd in the mosh pit.

Cambridge.

Their advertising was creative. But it worked, I bought tacos. And poutine. And then more poutine. Poutine with real cheese curds, not the normal commercial crap.

Jesse, on guitar and lead vocals.

Eric, on guitar and backup vocals.

Terry, the Bass player.

James, the drummer.

Dancers enjoying the show.

Shawn Cole, talking to Jesse during the show.

Another photo near the stage.

One of Cambridge's many fans. More people need to wear duct tape.

It's Thanksgiving Weekend. These are only decorative gourds, but by the end of the night, they were starting to look pretty appetizing.

Shawn got drunk enough that he agreed to let Beth cut his hair. In this photo, he looks like a deer caught in the headlights, as he suddenly realizes what he's agreed to.

Katrina, looking amused.

Shawn is finally realizing that he may as well enjoy it.

A white wine that is great for people who love puns.

Shawn, checking out Timothy (the Thanksgiving turkey).

A Sunday night party, which was held at three bars (Lotus, Milk, and Honey) which opened up as one combined venue for the night.

Innes, one of the DJ's, and Shawn Cole.

Katrina & Skylie.

One of the DJ's playing at Lotus.

The crowd.

Innes on the right, I'm not sure who the other DJ on the left was.

Another photo taken upstairs.

DJ Bolivia & Katrina.

Some cables at the FaderMaster recording studio that Shawn owns. We spent the day there, recording additional tracks for a song that I'm releasing with Mike Allison, and starting to do the final mixing.

The inside of the old Rhodes piano, which I used for the recording.

Playing the piano backing track.

This was a record box set (from the 1960's or 1970's) that was in the studio. It definitely looks like it belonged in the 1970's.

Recording the drum track. As you can see, we used a very simple kit for the song, with just a kick, a snare, and a hi-hit.

Paul, working at isolating some MIDI samples for Shawn. Paul is one of Shawn's students at the Pacific Audio Visual Institute, and spent the day helping us with the recording sessions.

The guitar amp that I used for the background electric track. This is a Traynor "Tube Mate" 30 watt amp.

Shawn, going through some of the Cubase files.

Playing the electric rhythm guitar parts.

Katie, a friend from Victoria.

Drinking a mint julep (bourbon, soda water, and mint leaves).

Joshua Searles, of the DAEGA Sound System.

A church in downtown Vancouver, near GM Place.

James Smith and Josh Bowman, the guys behind the scenes at the Richmond Record Pool.

A hockey game in Vancouver (Canucks vs. Flyers).

At the hockey game.

More action around the Philadelphia net.

We had pretty good seats, 7th row.

Time for a brief TV commercial break.

The hit that resulted in a 25 game suspension.

A few of the players getting to know each other a bit better.

DJ Bolivia at the game.

Here we have well-known producer James Sadoway in the left of the photo. I believe that the girl on the right was trying to guess what kind of shampoo I was using.

But she's keeping it a secret.

Drinking at the Cambie.

James & Shawn, at the Price Waterhouse building. Shawn is demonstrating the echo chamber effect to James.

A building downtown.

Moving to Edmonton for the last couple of photos, here we have Marc Carnes. He and I played at a house party that night.

Christy by now is wearing a tierra and a tin-foil hat. The tin-foil is so I cannot read her mind.

Worn out from too much dancing.
