Producer Name: Da SaltShakerz - 3rd Place in Remix Contest
Real Name: Cop Olivier
Location: Belgium
Remix Entry: Da SaltShakerz Stop Smiling Remix
Email: kenzocop at gmail.com
Website: Facebook

Da SaltShakerz producers electro-house, progressive, club, and soulful house, and is inspired by Muttonheads, Sebastien Légèr, Arno Cost, Swedish House Mafia, Deadmau5, Booka Shade, A-Track, Dennis Ferrer, and Sharam Jey, to list just a few. Da Saltshakerz says, "The love for beats infected me in the mid 80's, when I was able to watch my dad perfecting his mixing skillz with the early new-beat and some local breakdancers freestyling. In the early 90's I started collecting all the house tunes from that moment. Bonzaï records was the leading name in Belgium at the time, with producers and DJ's including Yves Deruyter, M.I.K.E, Dave Davis ... I knew I wanted to do this too. In the mid 90's I got my first mixing panel and double CD which kept me satisfactied for years. But then 2000 came, and I started to work, so I had little time left to DJ at parties and local clubs. A few years passed, but the love didn't fade, so I made the decision to cross over to producing tracks. I slowly evolved to bigger systems and more complex software over time, until two years ago the first controller and synth came in play. Since then I have always been trying to improve, in search for that ultimate track."

Producer Name: David Anthony - Honorable Mention
Real Name: David Anthony
Location: Halifax, Canada
Remix Entry: David Anthony Remix

Davy likes people, music and words. Booze is pretty cool too. Making women dance is also cool. The beach is nice; so is sex. Mister Anthony like lower latitudes, mamacitas, senoritas and real tequila. And making hit records, small-town living, big-city night-life, cruise ships, cooking, making out and mountain biking.

Producer Name: BassQuake - Honorable Mention
Real Name: David Kerr
Location: Ireland
Remix Entry: BassQuake Remix
Email: dkdejay at gmail.com
Website: www.myspace.com/license2wreck

David Kerr is a young producer at 21, who was born and bred in Dublin, Ireland. He started DJ'ing properly about two years ago. Dave was becoming a father right around the time that the contest results were announced, so he was pretty busy at the time, dedicated to getting money in the bank with a tedious job. He doesn't say that he doesn't spend enough time with his music, but it is his true passion in life and whenever he gets time, you'll find him on the decks or on the laptop. He is currently trying to acquaint myself with Ableton. He says that he's only produced a few tracks so far, but thinks that he is improving with each one. If this release is any indication, Dave has a lot of potential in his future!

Remix Entry: Paulina Wlodarczyk Remix
Email: paulina.wlodarczyk at hotmail.com

Paulina was born in 1989 in Klodzko, a small town in the South of Poland. Music has been her passion since I was young. When she was twelve she started to learn playing on keyboard & guitar, and has tried to produce music just for fun. Most of her productions are trance, dance and chillout tracks. You can hear the trance influences in this track.

Producer Name: Chef Napalm - Honorable Mention
Real Name: John Lepper
Location: Saint John, Canada
Remix Entry: Chef Napalm's 212 to 313 Dub
Email: chef.napalm at gmail.com
Website: www.soundcloud.com/chef-napalm

Chef Napalm loves records. CDs are OK and mp3s are fine for previewing records he might want to order, but the Chef only has enough love in his heart for real vinyl records. From ABBA to Zappa, Moby to Madonna, he craves the comfortable crackle of delicious vinyl. One day some friends asked Chef Napalm if they could borrow some of his precious records to play at their party. And he said No. They said Please? And again, he said No. So, they said "Aw, pleeeease?" Finally, he replied, "Alright, but I'll have to play them for you." They agreed and a good time was had by all.

Here are the original lyrics for this track:

Lyrics to Bolivia – "Global Underground (Alone In New York)"

When I was young, I always wanted to visit a real city. I was born in Virginia, but I didn't grow up there. I grew up outside a small town, where I lived with my quiet family. We didn't travel much.

When I turned seventeen, we finally got the internet at my house, and my whole life changed. I spent almost every night online, reading about places and people that I hoped I could meet someday.

It wasn't too long after I got the internet that I started downloading music. I didn't like the music on the radio station in my own town, but there was a lot of better music that I discovered online. And one night, I discovered some music that would change my life.

I downloaded a CD of music called The Global Underground. I really liked the name. The music was all by a DJ named Danny Tenaglia. It was a show that he had played at a club in London. I loved it. I must have listened to that CD about two hundred times.

Eventually, I learned that there were more Global Underground CD's. Dozens of them! There were DJ's playing that kind of music in cities all over the world: San Francisco, Milan, Tokyo, Athens, Moscow, Toronto, and of course, New York.

By the time I turned twenty-two, I knew that I had to get away from home. I couldn't stand the thought of spending the rest of my life there, with the same old boring small-town boys. My family didn't say too much. They said that they didn't want me to leave, but I think that they were secretly glad that I was leaving. So I took a bus and I went to New York. I felt so alone.

New York is a pretty scary place for a small town girl who's never left home before. I didn't understand the bus routes. I was scared to use the subway, even though people said it was safe. I felt like the buildings were closing in on me, and I wanted to go to a park, but I thought that even Central Park was dangerous.

Anyway, I got over some of my fears eventually. I found an apartment right away, although it was pretty dirty. But at least it had four locks on the door. And I found a job at a little variety store with a couple booths for people to eat at. I helped the owner stock the shelves and mop the floors. I got to know the regulars. But I still felt so alone.

One day, a couple of boys came in. We didn't get many young people in our store. One of them was pretty cute. I overheard them talking about this club that they were going to on Saturday night, named Pacha, to see John Digweed. I couldn't believe it. For years, I had dreamed about seeing John Digweed play!

I didn't have much money, and I didn't know much about the clubs yet. I thought I couldn't afford to go out to shows, but I knew then and there that this would be my one treat to myself. This was the whole reason that I had come to New York in the first place – for the music.

When Saturday night came, I was so excited. I got there an hour before the doors even opened, because I didn't want to miss a beat. Once I got inside, the club seemed really dark. As I walked through the club towards the dance floor, I couldn't believe how loud the music was playing. But I kept going, and a minute later I was out on the dance floor, all alone.

That night was one of the best nights of my life. I just couldn't stop smiling the whole time. The bass shook my entire body. The lights left me feeling blind most of the time, but I didn't need to see anything. I just danced the entire night, and got lost in the music. People were smiling and dancing with me. It changed my life. For the first time ever, thanks to the music, I didn't feel alone.
