Back To The Music
I’m back in New Brunswick (for now) and after a summer on Canada’s West Coast, it’s good to be home for a bit. I’m going to spend the next couple weeks getting caught up on music. Being stuck in the bush for several months definitely puts a damper on my other music projects, especially since I had to turn down opportunities to play a couple of pretty high-profile shows over the summer.
As far as conventional music goes, right now I’m finishing up a video for “When I Grow Old” with Mike Allison (video produced by Deanna Musgrave) that we want to be able to release early this fall. Mike and I are also working on a few other projects, including a cross-Canada album release which will feature some of his previous favorites, a few of his new songs, and a few of my own songs that he’s performing. This album will be released to a large number of radio stations across the country, maybe as soon as six to eight weeks from now.
For electronica/dance music, I’m trying to get caught up on what’s been released over the summer months, and I’m also getting used to working with the Ableton Live software. I’ve got a lot of music (mostly progressive & tribal house) from the Richmond Record Pool which I’m trying to get caught up on, first and foremost, and of course I also need to get more familiar with the club music that I get through Pool East.
For upcoming shows in the next four months, I’ve finalized a few fall dates so far. I’m organizing shows right now in Tokyo, Osaka, Seattle, Vancouver, Edmonton, Calgary, Toronto, Boston, the Dominican Republic, Saint John, Fredericton, Moncton, and Halifax, so hopefully I’ll get most of those dates pinned down soon (about two thirds of these shows are confirmed now). I’d also like to start playing in American cities more frequently, so I’m looking forward to meeting more US promoters in the coming months, either at other shows or through online connections. If anyone would like to contact me to talk about potential bookings, just email me at djbolivia@gmail.com. I’d also like to play in a few more European cities, but unfortunately, I don’t have too many connections over there just yet.
