New DJ Mix Online

Well, the most significant event happening in the world today will be the American mid-term elections. Luckily, none of last week's conspiracy theories have come to fruition, although the naval concentration in the Persian Gulf (or should I say Arabian Gulf?) looks to be getting more intense. Let's hope that George W. Bush isn't planning to go out with a bang.

In more local news, I finally recorded a new DJ mix yesterday morning. This was the first mix in about seven months, and long overdue. I tried not to use new music for this one. I went through all my old records and picked out a bunch of records that I had never used on any of my mixes before. In retrospect, it was probably the best mix that I've done to date. It is an "exclusive" set for the Newfoundland electronic music community, and is being featured on www.lyricalsmelter.com at the moment (although I'll make it available on my own website next month). It's a very "dark" set - the music has very little lyrics, and it's pretty hard-driving tribal/progressive house throughout, almost bordering on techno at times. I'm glad that I've finally got time to start playing with my music again, after the past six months of working far too much.

And to wrap up this morning's post, an interesting story: One of my roommates plays varsity football here at the university. Or rather, used to play, since their season ended on Saturday. Along with the end of their season, so went their sobriety. Last night he was out drinking, and he eventually ended up at his girlfriend's house. When he left this morning, he apparently decided it would be best if he urinated on the side of her house before he walked home, since that would make more sense than having to urinate on a stranger's house on the way home. Obviously, he was/is still quite intoxicated right now.

Anyway, as he was standing there, doing his business, he turned his head to say hello to a stranger walking by on the sidewalk. Except it wasn't a stranger - it was his Political Science professor, who was on HIS way to teach the same class that my roommate should be attending right now. The prof gave him a pretty strange look but nodded and said, "Good Morning, Jamie." But really, what else would you say in such a situation?
